How to Improve Your Chances of New Year Resolution Success

What's Your New Years Resolution?

What's Your New Years Resolution?

January 1st has passed us up as fast as it came. New Year resolutions are a staple for many people, looking to improve their lives. Have you thought about your resolution for the coming year?

Even though most of us are full of broken New Year’s resolution commitments, each and every year we tell ourselves that we will commit ourselves to one thing or multiple resolutions. I need to admit that too; I don’t even remember what my resolutions from past years had been. Obviously, New Year’s resolutions haven’t worked out for me.

With that said, a study by the researchers at Quirkology found from their study of over 3,000 men and women that only 12% achieved their New Year’s resolution goals. To make matters bleak, 52% of the over 3,000 people had been confident that they would attain their objective when they initial committed to it. (Which also means that 48% committed to a New Year’s resolution with expectations of not succeeding?) Although 12% is really a disappointing percentage, there are ways to improve your odds of success.

Not all hope is lost
Suggestions given by the Quirkology study to improve your odds of achieving your resolution say that men tend to achieve 22% more when they utilized goal setting as a tactic, while women increased their success rate by 10% when they share their goals with others and gained support.

Here are some more suggestions from the Quirkology study:

  • One Resolution – Just like how our minds are not made to multi-task, trying to focus on several resolutions will split your focus and lower performance. Concentrating on one resolution will help you increase your focus on the one crucial resolution you would like to attain, thus boosting your success rate.
  • Specific – Is your goal to lose weight? If so, be specific. Tell yourself that you’ll lose a specific amount of weight by a certain time. If you’re not specific, you won’t be able to clearly see the goal you’re trying to attain.
  • Be Persistent – We all mess up here and there, but keep at your goals. In case you stall or let your resolution schedule pass up, get back into your routine as soon as it is possible to do so. We also need to know that new habits will take a long time to learn. Some habits may form as soon as a month, although other habits may take well over a year.

Other Suggestions:

As opposed to a longer 1-year commitment, why not try a shorter challenge? How about a 200-day challenge? 100-day challenge? 30-day challenge?

By achieving smaller challenges as you start, you’ll have the ability to build up confidence and motivation to challenge your self to bigger goals.

Know why you want to attain a certain goal.

Do you would like to lose weight to look good at the beach? Is it because you’ll be facing health problems if you don’t shed some additional weight? Is it pressure from others?

Whatever your goals are for 2011, I wish you the best of luck!

The Differences Between the Silver Surfer Vaporizer and Da Buddha Vaporizer

The Diffrences Between the Silver Surfer Vaporizer and Da Buddha Vaporizer

Silver Surfer Vaporizer

  • Thick premium glass pieces with color beads
  • Full custom glass knob

Da Buddha Vaporizer

  • Affordable
  • Aluminum housing with plastic base
  • Ground glass connection
  • Thinner glass pieces

In this article, we’ll be looking in-depth on the differences between the Silver Surfer and Da Buddha vaporizers to make your decision easier. If you’re already reading this article, you already know that when it comes to whip style vaporizers, the Silver Surfer vaporizer and Da Buddha vaporizer are 2 vaporizers that really stand out, both in looks and function. The 2 vaporizers have been created by the team at 7th Floor and have received high praises and recommendation.  The Silver Surfer and Da Buddha vaporizers with their stunning looks and ease of use make it a no brainer when you’re looking for a whip style vaporizer. From here on out, the Silver Surfer will be referred to as SSV and Da Buddha vaporizer as DBV.

Heating element: Both the SSV and DBV incorporate a ceramic heating element which is safe and quick to heat up. The color of the heating element is bone white when it is at room temperature and glows to an orange hue when it is warmed up.

Vaporizer Housing: The SSV and DBV both have a very robust aluminum cylinder housing. The differences between the two are the DBV has a straight vertical structure while SSV has the famous 45 degree tilt. The benefit you get from the 45 degree tilt on the SSV is an optimized angle for your wand, so when you inhale, your herbal blend spillage is minimized.

Vaporizer Housing Base: The SSV has a full aluminum base (the bottom plate) that can also be customized with your preferred color combination. The DBV has a black plastic base for both the silver and powder coated black vaporizers.

Pricing: The pricing on the SSV is roughly $80 higher and it differs depending on the color combination you compare. As you can see from the pricing, the DBV is the more affordable vaporizer, while the SSV is the premium customizable vaporizer.

Glass: There are a few places on both vaporizers where glass pieces are used. The glass heater cover: The SSV glass heater cover is slightly thicker and has color beads within the glass, making for a more custom experience. Glass wand (the glass piece that holds your herbal blends): The glass wand on the SSV, just like the heater cover is thicker and has a better weight in your hands. The SSV wand also has color beads within the glass, making a nice aesthetic.

(VaporizerKits TIP: The Ground Glass Silver Surfer vaporizer wand (whip kit) can be used with DBV. Conversely, you can use the Da Buddha Vaporizer wand (whip kit) with your SSV if your SSV has a Ground Glass heater cover.)

Customized Glass Temperature Knob: All SSV vaporizers come with a custom glass temperature knob. The neat thing about this is that each knob is different from the next because it is hand blown with different color combination.

Vaporizer Whip Connection: This along with the vaporizer housing is a big differentiators of the SSV and DBV. DBV is only able to accept ground glass connections, while the SSV has many different type of customizable connection options. Currently, the SSV can be customize with a non-ground glass connection (standard), ground glass connection and spherical ground glass connection. If these terms are new to you, please check out the article regarding the different connection options for the Silver Surfer vaporizer.

What’s the Best Herbal Vaporizer for Me?

Volcano Digit Vaporizer

Volcano Digit Vaporizer

Welcome to Part 1 of “What’s the Best Herbal Vaporizer for Me?”

Are you new to vaporizers and looking for one that will fit your needs? Well, you’ve found the right article to help you get the best vaporizer for your needs.

A lot of people are convinced a certain vaporizer is the best, but in reality, there are many ‘best’ vaporizers depending on what your preferences are. Before starting, I’d like to commend you for taking the step to giving your lungs a break and prioritizing your health. Other benefits you can see from vaporizing aside from the health benefits are lower smell. Since burning does not occur, vaporizing significantly cuts down on smell, helping you keep your room fresher.

Getting back to which vaporizer is the best for you, let me first say that many are quick to say that the Volcano vaporizer is the best vaporizer, because of it’s astronomical price, and because most only know about the Volcano vaporizer. For those who have the Volcano, the best to you, but for others looking for a better alternative, there are many that will give you all the benefits at lower cost. So let’s get started.

What type of vapor delivery are you looking for? If you’re looking for a light airy vapor that’s easy to inhale, you’ll want to look at bag style vaporizers. If you’re looking for a thicker, potent almost smoke like vapor delivery, you’ll want to invest in a whip-style vaporizer. (Check this link out for more detailed information regarding the differences of bag-style and whip-style vaporizers)

Now, you need to ask yourself if you need a portable vaporizer or if you’ll strictly be using the vaporizer at home where a wall outlet is available. Portable vaporizers usually are only available in whip/straw/tube-style because bag style vaporizers require a fan to inflate the bag, making for a larger non-portable vaporizer.

So now, you know if you want either a bag/whip style vaporizer and if you need a portable vaporizer. Lastly, is the question of pricing. How much are you willing to spend on a vaporizer? I never recommend getting a cheap knockoff vaporizers that you can find on eBay, or any other sites that carry lower end vaporizers. This means, you will want to spend $100 or more. But pricing for quality vaporizers range quite a bit, from $100 on the lowest end and to more than $650. If it’s your first vaporizer, I recommend you spending about $200-$300 to get a solid vaporizer. Most vaporizers in this price range have excellent support and aftercare if you ever need. You’ll also want to make sure you purchase from a reputable retailer, because unfortunately, the herbal vaporizer market has many ‘fly-by-night’ operations where they disappear after a few months or weeks.

Come back for our next installment of “What’s the Best Herbal Vaporizer for Me?” where we’ll be going more in-depth on whip style/bag style and portable vaporizers.

What’s a Non-Ground Glass Vaporizer Wand?

Silver Surfer Ground Glass and Non-Ground Glass Wands

Silver Surfer Ground Glass and Non-Ground Glass Wands

As I mentioned in the previous article, “What’s a Vaporizer Ground Glass Wand?” I explained what ground glass wands were and their benefits and drawbacks. In this article, I’ll cover how non-ground glass wands fit into the picture.

If you’ve been looking at whip vaporizers, you’ll see that there are 2 main types of whips that either use ground glass wands or non-ground glass wands. I will be talking about ground glass wands in this article, but if you’re also interested, check out the ground glass wand article.

So what are non-ground glass vaporizer wands?
While Ground Glass is finished for a matte look to create friction between the wand and the heater cover, the non-ground glass wands are glassy for a smooth low-friction connection between the heater cover and the wand.

When it comes to vaporizers, non-ground glass wands have to be held to the vaporizer heater cover while you inhale. This is why non-ground glass wands are not called ‘hands free.’ It requires 2 hands to vaporize :P

What’s a Ground Glass Vaporizer Wand?

Silver Surfer Ground Glass and Non-Ground Glass Wands

Silver Surfer Ground Glass and Non-Ground Glass Wands

If you’re new to vaporizers, you’ll see a lot of new words that you have to learn. When I first got into vaporizing, I didn’t even know the difference between a forced air vaporizer and a whip vaporizer. But with a lot of research, I was able to understand and pick the best vaporizers for me. If you’ve been looking at whip vaporizers, you’ll see that there are 2 main types of whips that either use ground glass wands or non-ground glass wands. I will be talking about ground glass wands in this article, but if you’re also interested, check out the non-ground glass wand article.

So what are ground glass wands?
Ground glass is basically when the surface of a piece of glass is finished to be translucent and matte. (Wikipedia on Ground Glass) Because of its finish, when 2 ground glass surfaces meet, they create friction and ‘stick’ much more than the regular smooth glass finish.

When it comes to vaporizers, ground glass wands fit into the ground glass heater cover and allows for the wand to be used ‘hands free’ because the friction created by the ground glass finish allows the wand to stay inside the ground glass heater cover until you pull it out.
So, in order to use a ground glass wand vaporizer, you fill the wand with your favorite herbs and then place the wand into the heater cover and give it a slight push and twist to lock the wand into the vaporizer. Once the vaporizer reached the optimal temperature, you’re ready to vaporize.

How to Change the Air Filter on the Zephyr Ion Vaporizer

Zephyr Ion Vaporizer Air Filter

Zephyr Ion Vaporizer Air Filter

The Zephyr Ion Vaporizer includes an air filter on the bottom of the unit in order to filter the air before the air goes to the pump into the heating chamber and I into your herbs and finally into your bag. The air filter is located on the bottom of the unit held in place with a plastic retainer. And easy way to check if you need to replace your air filter is to take off the plastic retainer and check your air filter. If the air filter is dirty, it safe to say that your air filter will need to be replaced.

That air filter replacement is extremely easy. Just take out the old air filter and replace it with a new pair filter and then replace the plastic retainer. Keeping the air filter clean and replacing your air filter on a regular basis will ensure that your pump and heating element will stay in tiptop shape. Not only that, the heated air that goes through your herbs and into the bag will be pure.
An easy way to keep your air filter from being contaminated quickly is to always use your Zephyr ion vaporizer on clean surfaces such as a clean table or desk. This is because the air is initially sucked into the bottom of the unit into the pump and then into the heating chamber.

3 Benefits of Herbal Vaporizers

Volcano Vaporizer

Volcano Vaporizer

An herb vaporizer is a device used to sublimate the active ingredients of plant material, or any other therapeutic herbal blends. Vaporization, rather than burning the herbal blend, which produces irritating, toxic, and carcinogenic by-products, the vaporizer heats the material in a controlled manner so that the active compounds contained in the plant vaporizes.

The vapor contains virtually zero particulate matter, and significantly lower concentrations of noxious gases such as carbon monoxide. See the wide variety of vaporizers offered by VaporizerKits.com and take the safer alternative.

What are the main Benefits of vaporizing?

The main benefits of Vaporizing include:

  • A healthier lung -  No burning involved and lowers concentrations of toxic chemicals
  • A cooler lung – Since vaporizing is cooler than burning methods, your lungs are less susceptible to damage
  • More bang for your buck – Vaporizers are very efficient, and inhale only the amount you need instead of wasting your herbal blend by burning

The CA-NORML vaporizer study was conducted and concluded that vaporizers offer the best way to extract and inhale the essence of herbal blends.
This is something even waterpipes cannot provide: “Contrary to popular impression, waterpipes don’t necessarily protect smokers from harmful tars in  smoke, according to a new study sponsored by MAPS and California NORML “
